The Challenge
A University client asked us to design and install a projection system to create a display 8m wide and 2m tall.
They wanted a universal display, one which could be used for conference presentations, team meetings, and an audio-visual learning centre space.
This was the primary feature of their new modern technology suite, intended for businesses to hire and for enabling students to learn about immersive production.
The Solution
To meet the carefully controlled budget and to enable close viewing of the display, three projectors were selected for optimal performance.
The bank of projectors were positioned to precisely cover the display surface with soft edge blends between adjacent projections.
Specialist and customer-friendly warp and blend software was used to seamlessly blend the projected images together
A XRS Media PC, specified and supplied by Portal Devices, and featuring a powerful Nvidia graphics card, enabled our team to configure an adaptable display with a massive 7-megapixel resolution across the display.
The display system enabled the display to perfectly use every pixel for very high-quality images, and wide-angle high-performance lenses provided a detailed image even at very close viewing.
The warp and blend software readily scales varying content resolutions across the display.
5.1 channel audio supporting Dolby DTS:X was also included via a leading receiver and 5.1 speaker package.
