A little bit about us …

31 January 2025

Thanks to the lovely Inavate team for this article:

https://www.inavateonthenet.net/features/article/the-display-engineer-redefining-the-entertainment-market

“The use of light and sound to stimulate guests, to let them detach from the ordinary world, that is the goal and it’s part of a booming market. We love to escape into a fantasy world and to even role play in that.“

“We provide design and technical expertise in projected displays, using projectors, lenses, mirrors, masks, alignment and screens. We liaise with master planners, architects, AV and system architect leads, OEMs, fabricators, setworks designers and more.”

An immersive opera at the Vatican

Multisensory Immersive Opera Freeform Projection at the Vatican

BLOOD&BREATH World Premiere, OCTOBER 19, 2024

Church of Santa Maria della Pietà, Vatican City, Rome, Italy

With Portal Devices’ support with projection, a stunning immersive opera has been performed.

Using just two projectors and decades of confidence with immersive visuals, the interior of the Church of Santa Maria della Pietà was brought alive with beautiful content produced by Margot McLean for Frequency Opera.

https://www.frequencyopera.org/margot-mclean

“This opera explores the life and mystery of animals and the circulation of air and blood in the body through the power of the heart. The geometries of the body as microcosm have answering geometries in the movement of the planets and stars, all revealing the intricate marvel of the natural world as the spiritual world. Through immersion in a multimedia narrative, images and song, an ancient legend of the surrender of Mary Magdalen and Joseph of Arimethia to the elements as they struggled to find themselves after the death of their beloved teacher is told. Casting themselves into the natural world, they rediscover the source of  Creation.

Using a unique mix of classicism and the avant guard, BLOOD&BREATH gives us Mary Magdalene and Joseph of Arimathea as they retreated to the caves in the south of France, where Magdalene lived in solitude, experiencing an interior transformation that led her to understand where the love that healed her has gone.”

Portal Devices enjoyed helping these impressive artists immerse their audience in stunning visuals.
